The Confident personality in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is the assured performer—the resident who believes in themselves without apology and expects others to follow their lead. They live inside the Outgoing group, but where a Charmer reads a room and an Adventurer chases thrills, a Confident resident simply trusts their own judgment. Confidents are the residents who make the island feel like anything is possible because they decided it should be.

Confident Miis have no widely-used alternative label in regional builds, making them distinctly named within this generation. The personality is singular and visible in every scene.

How to create a Confident Mii

Five sliders shape the result during Mii creation. The first four affect the Confident behaviour we are aiming for; the Overall slider only changes outward style.

SliderDirection (Confident)
Movement[FILL IN: confirm whether Confident leans Quick or Slow]
Speech[FILL IN: confirm whether Confident leans Active or Passive]
Energy[FILL IN: confirm whether Confident leans Strong or Weak]
Thinking[FILL IN: confirm whether Confident leans Quirky or Normal]
OverallCosmetic only — pick whichever look fits your idea

Several slider configurations land on Confident. The behaviour reads as assured, commanding, and self-directed. If a Mii is coming out as plain Outgoing without the commanding presence, nudge Thinking toward Normal and Speech toward Active, then rebuild and watch the first scene.

A few notes during creation:

  • A Confident with formal or striking clothing reads as authoritative; the same Confident in casual clothing reads as naturally magnetic. Both work — pick the visual that matches the resident in your head.
  • Voice has nothing to do with personality, but a steady, clear voice tends to read as more naturally Confident; an uncertain voice creates interesting ironic contrast.
  • The Wishing Well's Little Quirks layer additional flavour later. Consider giving a Confident a habit that reflects their self-assurance: being the first to try something, announcing decisions, enjoying the spotlight.

Slider values above are placeholders until verified against in-game testing. Use this section as the structure; the precise numbers will be added once they are confirmed.

How a Confident Mii behaves on your island

Confidents move decisively. Their walk is direct and their posture is open; they tend to stand at the centre of a scene rather than around its edges. Their speech is clear and declarative, full of statements rather than questions. They are the resident most likely to announce a plan and then invite others to join them, rather than asking for consensus first.

Their dreams skew achievement-focused. Settings tend to involve spotlight moments, being admired, or overcoming challenges through sheer will rather than compromise. Their reactions to gifts run pleased and possessive; a Confident who likes a gift will react with visible satisfaction, as if it confirms their good taste, which makes them feel different from a Lively or Charmer for the same item.

Their houses sit in the Outgoing group's pink and coral palette, but Confident houses often include items of status or display—things chosen to impress or that suggest someone with excellent taste lives there. A passing player often recognises a Confident's house from the way everything is arranged to draw attention.

Confidents are useful for anchoring a large, chaotic save. They are the residents who take charge when the moment calls for it, who inspire others through sheer self-belief, who make the island feel like it has direction and purpose.

In Living the Dream, group-wide differences are gentler than they were on the 3DS, so most of a Confident's day-to-day flavour comes from the Wishing Well's Little Quirks. Use them to give the Confident a hobby or habit that feeds their need for self-expression: performing, leading, competing, standing out.

Best gifts for a Confident Mii

Confident Miis enjoy gifts that feel prestigious, luxurious, or that reflect good taste. They respond best to gifts that they would be proud to own or display.

Foods. Lean toward foods that feel refined, special, or that carry prestige. A Confident reacts more memorably to a fancy dessert or rare ingredient than to an everyday food, even if the everyday food would technically score the same.

Treasures. Confidents tend to enjoy treasures that feel luxurious, artistic, or status- coded: items that display well, items that suggest accomplishment, items that feel like prizes.

A general rule: if the gift feels like something a successful person would want to own, it will probably feel right. Save the comfort items for Carers, the adventure items for Adventurers, and the fun items for Livelys. Confidents reward gifts that reflect their own excellent taste.

Compatibility and pairings

Confident Miis pair interestingly with residents who either match their self-assurance or who aren't intimidated by it. The pairing often creates dynamics around who gets to lead.

Pairings that tend to read well:

  • Confident × Lively. Two Outgoing personalities competing for attention. The Confident wants respect; the Lively wants fun. They often develop a "spotlight-sharing" rapport.
  • Confident × Perfectionist. Two ambitious personalities with different targets. The Perfectionist respects the Confident's certainty, and the Confident admires the Perfectionist's standards.
  • Confident × Dynamo. Two personalities used to leading. They tend to establish a hierarchy quickly or find surprising respect for each other's different styles.
  • Confident × Charmer. Both are socially savvy, but in different ways. The Charmer adapts to others; the Confident expects others to adapt to them. The friction often reads as engaging.

Be cautious about pairing two Confidents in a small save. Both will be trying to lead, which can feel like constant posturing rather than genuine connection.

Tomodachi Life's romance system does not lock to personality. A Confident can pair with any other personality if the random crushes line up, and the relationship may surprise you regardless of what the labels suggest.

Character inspirations for a Confident Mii

A Confident Mii is easiest to design when you anchor them in a single assured, commanding reference. The personality reads quickest when the inspiration has a visible relationship with self-assurance or presence.

Archetypes that tend to fit the Confident mood:

  • James T. Kirk from Star Trek — assured, commanding, making decisions with total confidence.
  • Sherlock Holmes — brilliant, certain, operating from absolute self-belief.
  • Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmatians — confident to the point of villainy, always in control.
  • Meryl Streep's Miranda Priestly from The Devil Wears Prada — commanding presence, absolute authority.
  • Zuko (reformed) from Avatar: The Last Airbender — assured leader, confident in their convictions.
  • Tony Stark from Iron Man — brilliant, assured, believing in their own superiority.
  • Lizzo as a cultural archetype — unapologetic self-celebration and complete confidence.

Avoid using a real living person as your single reference. Confident Miis read best when the source character has a clear "what they're sure about" or "how they command attention" detail you can echo in the Mii's stance or outfit.

FAQ

Can I change my Mii's personality later?

No. Once a Confident Mii is created, the underlying personality is locked. You can adjust the visible details and unlock small habits through the Wishing Well's Little Quirks system, but the Confident walk, speech, and reactions stay constant for the life of the save.

Does Confident personality affect romance compatibility?

It tilts the result, but it does not decide it. Confidents tend to pursue residents they feel are worthy of them, which can create interesting dynamics with both self-assured and self-doubting personalities. That said, romance in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream depends on dating preferences and the random crushes the game generates as well as personality, so the result is never fully predictable.

Is Confident the same as Charmer?

No. Both are Outgoing personalities, but they operate differently. Charmer reads the room and adapts—they are mirrors that reflect what others want. Confident assumes people will adapt to them—they are beacons that others orbit. A Charmer is strategic social; a Confident is self-assured social.

Is Confident related to any 3DS-era personality?

Confident is a new personality type for Living the Dream with no direct 3DS predecessor. It fills a unique niche as the self-assured, commanding Outgoing sub-type distinct from the curious Adventurer and the strategic Charmer.
